A safe, natural way of supporting, restoring, and balancing your emotional, mental, and spiritual health

ABOUT THE FLOWER REMEDIES

Bach Flower Remedies were discovered by Dr. Edward Bach in the 1930s. He believed that the emotional and mental state of a person plays a vital role in their overall health, and that illness is caused by negative emotions which can become stuck in our bodies if we are not able to process and release them.

Bach Flower Remedies act by gently releasing these ‘stuck’ emotions, providing deep-acting support to help you move forward.

MY STORY

For five years between 1987 and 1992 I taught in a Primary School in Malawi in Central Africa, one of the world’s poorest and least developed countries, where my first child was born. On returning to the UK I settled in West Sussex for 9 years, where I worked in a Sixth Form College guiding students going into Higher Education. After having my third baby I moved on to working with adults seeking career change. 22 years ago I moved to Devon, where I have lived and worked ever since.

In 2014 I became self-employed, continuing to work as a Guidance Counsellor in a Secondary School, but for only 2 days a week. This freed up time for me to explore a range of healing modalities. I trained in NLP and Hypnotherapy, and went on to qualify as a Spiritual Healer.

Around that time I also discovered Flower Remedies, when I attended a workshop run by a Somerset GP who used Flower Remedies alongside conventional medicine to treat his patients. Intrigued, I bought a few bottles of Bach Flower Remedies and experimented with them. I think I initially chose Larch (for confidence) and Pine (to address guilt). The results were quite simply astounding. Flower Remedies really resonated with me, and I somehow knew I had found what I was looking for.

I have always been interested in what makes people “tick”, their motives, their dreams, their goals, and any barriers that might be holding them back.

I have many years experience of listening to my clients, and I have acquired a lot of tools along the way that encourage people to “open up”, helping me to help them find their path in life.

My “day job” for the best part of 35 years has been to work as a Guidance Counsellor, working 1-1 in Secondary Schools with young people aged 14 - 19. Part of my caseload involved working with young people who had very high additional needs, such as Autism, which required them to be educated out of county, at specialist schools and colleges.

A chance conversation with an acquaintance who had taken a Level 1 course at the Bach Centre led me to go on to study there myself, and I eventually completed my Level 3 training in September 2019. It took me another 6 months to finish the in-depth written work and Case Studies, which I posted literally the day we went into lockdown in 2020. Timing is everything! However I finally became fully qualified as a Bach Foundation Registered Practitioner in April 2020.

I was able to use the time in lockdown to delve deeper into Bach Flower Remedies, as well as other ranges of flower essences. I did a great deal of reading, and online training, whilst beginning to make Remedy mixes for family, friends, and colleagues. By the summer of 2021, I felt compelled to leave my work in school, in order to concentrate on becoming a full-time Bach Practitioner, as I had become increasingly frustrated at being unable to offer Bach Flower Remedies to the young people I was working with.

Now, I can share the benefits of Bach Flower Remedies with people like you, helping you to rebalance your emotions and reconnect to your most authentic self.

A few things about me…

  • My business is called Brightwell Healing because the Bach Centre is in the South Oxfordshire village of Brightwell-cum-Sotwell. And because another passion of mine is visiting, photographing, and documenting ancient wells on my Instagram account @the_holy_well_project

  • I have a Basset Hound called Mabel. She comes everywhere with me, and is the love of my life!

  • I am a keen Dowser, and have helped to run Dowsing groups in both Devon and Cornwall.

  • And last but not least, I love Cornwall! I grew up in Bude, and spend a lot of time walking the Cornwall coast path with Mabel and seeking out Holy Wells. If ever you can’t find me it is likely I will be somewhere in West Penwith!
